Today is the anniversary of the day I passed the FAA private pilot’s license exam.

Twenty-one years ago on Wednesday November 20, 1996, at 1715 Eastern Time and a little under six months after passing the FAA written exam, I passed the FAA check-ride and earned a VFR (visual flight rules) SEL (single engine land) private pilot’s license at the Bluffton airport outside the village of Bluffton, Ohio. FAA examiner Dottie Anderson administered the test on that very cool fall afternoon.

I went down memory lane and documented the events of that day.

Why Did The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar Fail?

The majestic Lockheed L-1011 TriStar was an aircraft far ahead of the times. It failed only because of bad business decisions which led to high production costs.
